In light of the cooperation protocol signed by the two parties in Abu Dhabi
The Archive and the National Library are discussing with their Turkish counterpart the promotion of cooperation and the exchange of experiences.


His Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Acting Director General of the Archives and National Library, and his accompanying delegation, discussed ways to enhance cooperation with the Archives Directorate of the Republic of Turkey affiliated to the Presidency of the Republic in light of the provisions of the cooperation protocol that was signed between the two sides in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates - may God protect him - and His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Turkish Republic, last February.
On this visit, His Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali said: The UAE-Turkish relations are witnessing positive developments and rapid growth in all areas of common interest, thanks to the joint will of the leaderships of the two countries in order to advance them towards broader horizons. This development aims to build bridges of friendship and cooperation in various fields. areas, and consolidating good relations in order to become a sustainable model of partnership that serves the interests of the two friendly countries. In this context, the desire of the Archive and the National Library to strengthen relations and forge partnerships with its Turkish counterpart comes in the matter of developing archival work in order to preserve the memory of the nation for generations according to the highest standards and best practices.
He added: In this context, the visit of a delegation from the Archives and the National Library in the UAE to the Archives Directorate of the Republic of Turkey affiliated to the Presidency of the Republic comes to enhance cooperation and support common goals, programs and activities of mutual benefit, and the exchange of pictures of archival documents, books, the exchange of experiences and technical and electronic knowledge, and partnerships in exhibitions. Scientific documents related to the archives, and this is among the provisions of the cooperation protocol that links the two archives in the two friendly countries.
He expressed his hope to enhance opportunities for cooperation between the two parties and to consolidate and deepen relations between the Archives, the National Library and the State Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey. In support of common goals, especially since both archives are rich in historical documents in all their forms, in addition to that each archive will benefit from the expertise of the other archive and from the successful experiences it has achieved.
His Excellency highly appreciated what he and the accompanying delegation received of the hospitality, warm reception and attention upon their arrival in Turkey, and praised the busy program prepared by the administrative staff in the Turkish Archives in order to enrich the visit of the delegation of the Archives and the National Library with discussions, exchange of views, and access to the most prominent and important features of archival work in Turkey, and the historical records pertaining to the Gulf region and the Arabian Peninsula.
Al Ali called the specialists, experts and administrators of the Directorate of Archives of the Republic of Turkey to the Congress of the International Council of Archives, which will be hosted by Abu Dhabi in October 2023, which is the largest archival event that is held every four years and will discuss many topics and core issues related to the future of archives.
It is noteworthy that the Archive and the National Library in Abu Dhabi include among its global archives an Ottoman archive that is an important reference for researchers in the history of the Gulf region during that important historical era, and it looks forward to enriching it with more historical documents of various kinds from the Ottoman Archive, which is the third largest archive in the world. ; In terms of the number of historical documents kept, and other ancient Turkish archives.
