The National Archives concludes a training course on "Requirements for Electronic Archiving in Government Entities"

The National Archives of the United Arab Emirates organized a training course on "Requirements of Electronic Archiving in Government Entities".

The specialized training course included participants from more than twenty government agencies, and it dealt with several axes, most notably: defining electronic archiving requirements, how to conduct scanning, specifying hardware and software specifications used in electronic archiving, and the current and future status of electronic systems.

The National Archives explained at length the method of working in electronic archiving and the most important standard specifications in it, and the role of this archiving in expanding the spatial space in light of the steady increase in the volume of paper documents and the ease of classifying and accessing them and preserving them from damage and loss, while emphasizing the importance of preserving the paper archive.

On the electronic archiving program, the training course introduced the electronic document management system that the National Archives enjoys, and the stages of converting a paper document into an electronic one. Beginning with photocopying, preparations, auditing of image quality, indexing, auditing of data, archiving it electronically, and making it available to decision makers and researchers in line with the requirements of the current and intermediate document management system.

The training course showed the role of sound electronic archiving, in which quality, accuracy and conformity are taken into account in reaching the e-government that the UAE aspires to as part of its future strategy.

At the end of the course, certificates of participation were distributed to all participants in the course, which were presented by the National Archives to those in charge of the electronic archiving project in government agencies in the United Arab Emirates.
