The National Library and Archives Honoring the Winners of the 12th Edition of the Young Historian Award

During the awards ceremony to honor the winning students of the 12th Edition of the Young Historian Award, H.E. Abdulla Majed Al Ali, Acting Director General, assured that the distinctive status of education in the UAE is attributable to the wise leadership of the Late Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, leader of the empowerment phase and of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who paid great attention to education as “students are the future of the nation and source of its pride” as described by His Highness.
His Excellency said: “The Young Historian Award sponsored by the National Library and Archives and organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education has proved its success and achieved excellence in research. If we think about the entire research papers submitted by the hardworking students, we will find that they were the fruit of their patriotism, sincere belonging to homeland and absolute loyalty to its prudent leadership.”
H.E. Acting Director General of the NLA expressed his happiness for achieving the objectives of this award as it has succeeded in instilling national culture among students.
At the end of his speech, he congratulated the winners, wished them further success and thanked the primary strategic partner, Ministry of Education, in organizing this award as well as the schools that were excited about this national project.
Mr. Hamad Al Humairi, Director of the Research and Knowledge Services Department and Chairman of the organizing committee, appreciated the students’ efforts in conducting serious national research papers that achieved high status in the library and cultural circles. He also thanked all participants and those who contributed to the success of this award, which promises a generation taking over in the future and enhances belonging to homeland and loyalty to its wise leadership.
Having assessed the participating students research papers in the Young Historian Award, 8 research papers and 4 reports were announced the winners, and they were from: Zainab Primary and Secondary School in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Ittihad National School in Al Ain, Al Nahda National Schools (for boys), Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Girls, Emirates National Schools in Ras Al Khaimah, ADNOC Schools in Sas Al Nakhl, and Future Leaders School (Campus 2) in Abu Dhabi.
As for the Geographical History category, the winning research papers were: The Journey of the 50 Years, The UAE’s Efforts in Confronting COVID-19 and Reaching Mars: Probe of the Hope.
However, the winning research papers of the Oral History category were: Minerals Throughout History, Theater in the UAE: a Long History and a Promising Future, The Nobility of the Mother of the UAE Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, and The Importance of the Emirati Women’s Role in Empowerment and Influence.
The research paper Traditional Handcrafts in the UAE won the award of the Economic History category while The Emirati Genome was the winner of the Social History category.
On the other hand, the winning reports were: Scent of History filling the White City, The Emirati Heritage and Culture, The UAE and Voluntary Work, and The Flag Martyr.
